الندم (Regret) – الصف السادس الإعدادي

Regret is a feeling of sadness or disappointment about something that has happened or something that you did not do. In English, we express regret using different structures.

Ways to Express Regret in English (طرق التعبير عن الندم بالإنجليزية):

1. Using “I wish” (باستخدام “I wish”)

  • I wish + past perfect (to regret something in the past)
    • I wish I had studied harder for the exam.
    • أتمنى لو كنت قد درست بجدٍّ أكثر للامتحان.

2. Using “If only” (باستخدام “If only”)

  • If only + past perfect (to express strong regret about the past)
    • If only I had woken up earlier, I wouldn’t have missed the bus.
    • لو أنني استيقظت مبكرًا، لما فاتني الحافلة.

3. Using “Should have” (باستخدام “Should have”)

  • Subject + should have + past participle (to show that something should have been done but was not)

    • I should have apologized to my friend.
    • كان يجب أن أعتذر لصديقي.
  • Subject + shouldn’t have + past participle (to regret doing something)

    • You shouldn’t have spent all your money.
    • لم يكن عليك إنفاق كل أموالك.
