In addition to solving crimes, police officers work to prevent them. They often patrol areas where crimes are likely to occur. For example, crowded areas attract pickpockets who try to steal people’s wallets, and shops that sell expensive items also attract thieves. Furthermore, police officers help people with everyday problems. For example, if you are lost, you need not worry—you can just ask a police officer for directions.
